5 Miles! - and linked up!

First, just wanted to say thanks a bunch to Peter Alter down on St. John for linking up this blog to the official "8 Tuff Miles" webpage. Now anyone who logs on to find out more about the race can click one link and check out this blog as well. It's cool more people might be reading this - and if you are for the first time, WELCOME!! I'd love to hear from anyone who is planning to run or has run in the past and has any good advice or tips. Feel free to leave any comments here.. Thanks again Peter!

Just got back a bit ago from a really good run w/ Pim! Took him along and ran about 2 miles down to the dog park at a big giant park near our house. I let him run around there for about 10 minutes or so but he was disappointed as there weren't any other dogs out today. I then headed for home and was feeling pretty good so decided about halfway back that I'd run a full five miles. To do this I had to run a little bit past home and then back but it felt really good to get that much distance in and I felt pretty good the whole time. Granted, I did take a 10 minute break at the dog park so I didn't run 5 miles STRAIGHT. But it was pretty close to it and almost 3 miles straight on the way home. Pim was really good and enjoyed the long run I think.

Didn't make it out yesterday as I was busy w/ some things during the day and my parents ended up coming in to visit in the evening. We had a nice dinner w/ Ashley's parents and then spent the rest of the evening at their house. I had some wine which usually I stay away from and I was totally feeling it this morning when I woke up. Had a bad headache, but took some ipubrofen and was able to get back to bed. I have a weird reaction like that almost every time I drink small amounts of alcohol. Usually, if I have just one or two drinks, one or two glasses of wine, or maybe a shot or something (on the VERY rare occasion) I'll almost always get like a mini hangover w/ an annoying headache. Conversely, this barely ever happens if I have a beer or two, and if I have enough drinks where I am actually really feeling it, I barely ever have a hangover. I guess if I was a big drinker this would be a plus, but I'm not at all these days.

OK, I'm going to keep today's update short as I promised Ashley I'd help her set up her ipod running kit and I want to get some work done on my ideas for the 8 tuff miles Tshirt design as well. Hope everyone has a good weekend!
